About Me
I am a young Canadian charcoal portrait artist from Thunder Bay, Ontario. I've been drawing since I could hold a crayon (says my mother) so art is not a new venture for me, but i found my calling with human portraits at the tender age of 17.
When I was in grade 11 and my father "pushed" me to do more difficult things. He said "find your a picture of your favorite singer or actor, and just draw him/her, who cares what it will turn out like, just do it, you may like it". From then on I've been drawing; from celebrities, to the homeless, to my beloved pets, to the wild creatures of the world.
Eventually I would love to be a professional artist, making my sole income from my art, but until then I dabble with those famous faces, those adorable creatures, and timeless photos anyone requests a commission from.
Born and raised in Thunder Bay, I've always appreciated the beauty of nature and its glory. From the moment I saw my grandmothers original Robert Bateman Owl painting, I idolized his works and how he captured the realism of the creature. I told myself if I am a good artist, I only want to draw the real, and have people immediatley recognize what/who i drew on paper.
